Paris, a 10 year old blog

Today we woke up and walked down to the breakfast room. The Ingrams were already there. We got some drinks and grabbed some food. We sat down and ate our food, then we went outside. Outside it was cold and rainy. We walked to McDonald’s because Aunty Megan wanted a morning coffee. When she entered, a security guard bomb checked her with the wand wavy hoosywhatsit. When she came out we walked to the BigBus stop. We caught the bus to the Louvre stop and walked to the Louvre. We turned around a corner and saw three glass pyramids.

We went through some baggage checks and security. Then we went down the elevator, the sun shone in our eyes through the glass panes. We looked for a place to get some drinks and because of the large size of the Louvre plan where we were going to go. We decided on of course the Mona Lisa, Wedding at Cana, the Dying Slave, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, John the Baptist and Venus God of Milo (or so Uncle Anthony told us as he said that if you drink too much Milo your arms will fall off). Then we walked into a Michelangelo section. I liked the many headed hydra sculpture. Then we saw the Dying Slave. It looked like he was chained to a rock. Then we moved on into the next room and saw the Winged Victory of Samothrace. It was very crowded there. We then saw the Venus de Milo. It was even more crowded there, we had to wait for a good view. When we got out we walked into the gallery of Italian painters, I imagined it being like the Sistine Chapel in Rome. We looked for paintings of the Wedding of Cana and John the Baptist. We did not see either and then we were in the Mona Lisa room. The Wedding at Cana was in the back of the room, it is a very big painting of the Bible story when Jesus turns water into wine.  John the Baptist was still nowhere to be seen. We pushed through the crowd and followed a school group to the front of the Mona Lisa. We took a few photos and moved out because the crowd was thickening. The eyes of the painting followed you. It was very small for its fame. We walked out and went under one of the smaller pyramids to have lunch. We had some baguettes with cheese.

We walked to the Orangerie, we went through a bit of security and looked at Monet’s Water Lillies. Then we caught a big bus to Notre Dame. We entered and looked at the famous stained windows, the Rose windows. Then we lit a candle and placed it down on a rack in memory of someone special.

We took a Big Bus to the Arch of Triumph. We went through security and climbed the stairs up to the top. Up there you can see everything, the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the Paris Eye. There are 12 roads that lead into the roundabout around the Arch of Triumph, we were surprised at how the cars didn’t crash into each other. We couldn’t work out what the road rules were, maybe you just go whenever there is a gap. Then we went down and had risotto for dinner. Aunty Megan makes a really yummy risotto. Then we went to bed.
