We love our travels. One of the best things is that we walk miles. 15,000 plus steps is not unheard of and 10,000 steps is easy. On Christmas Day though my fitbit only registered 9 steps. This isn’t an accurate account of the day – I didn’t put it on! – but does say that we had a pretty easy day by our recent standards.

We woke up without an alarm for the first time on thr trip and enjoyed a great breakfast prepared by Anthony – croissants with jam and his amazing scrambled eggs and bacon.

We were taking our time getting ready after breakfast and watching Christmas movies on TV when all of a sudden we were in a rush to get ready for lunch. Megan had booked us in to the Britannia – an English pub for lunch. It was now 12:00, our booking was at 12.30 and it was a 30 minute walk away!

With our Christmas clothes on we strolled through Kensington neighbourhoods, and through cute mews (only google can direct you on the most interesting but impractical routes) to arrive at our destination.

The restaurant had festive cheer with all sorts of families there to enjoy their Christmas lunch together. A sign on our table welcomed us and waiters shortly brought glasses for Prosecco for us to toast with the kids relegated to lemonade. The table setting included Christmas Bonbons allowing us all to wear our silly crowns.

The three course feast soon commenced with a starter of scallops for the girls, apple and parsnip soup for Hamish and a surprise antipasto for Anthony (I think Hamish ordered it but forgot! ). Next Hamish and Megan had the Christmas Day roast complete with turkey, pigs in blankets and gammon ham. There was so much food we couldn’t eat it all. Amelia and Anthony were a little less traditional with steak and thrice cooked chips.

We asked for a break before dessert which was plum pudding and ice cream. I am proud to say that the Ingram’s all voted my plum pudding (my Nanna’s recipe) is still the best!

Full to the brim, we definitely needed the walk back home after lunch (this time via a more direct route). Arriving home we spent the rest of the afternoon chilling out and relaxing with reading, music and more Christmas movies.

A light dinner of party hor d’oeuvres with a salad capped of a great day.

Awesome Christmas
