Tine and Bjarne suggested that we visit the Roundhouse and Mum said the Roundhouse was her favourite thing in Copenhagen so off we went.
The Roundhouse is a tall tower in Copenhagen that was created for a telescope observatory. It is special because instead of stairs, it has a continuous ramp.
We walked up the ramp nearly to the top where we had good views all over the city.
A few more stairs up and we got to see the telescope. Christian showed me how to play a game on the bars (designed to stop people jumping off the roof) to see how many times you can clap before you have to grab the bars again.
The King of Denmark was fascinated by the stars, which is why he had the tower built. He did not like walking up stairs though so the reason for the continuous ramp was that he wanted to ride his horse to the top.
It was good to see the telescope – it was humongous, about the size of a middle sized tree trunk.
The Roundhouse had a hollow centre and you could stand on a thin piece of glass that most people did not have the guts to do and look down. Overall the Roundhouse was a fun way to spend the afternoon.
